Background:

Wilfredo has been a consumer of child social services since 2005, or the age of fifteen. During this time, he worked for a federally funded non-profit called The Partnership for Kids (PARK) Project as a Youth Coordinator.  As a Youth Coordinator, Wilfredo was an advocate and mentor for youth rights and empowerment, civic leadership and civic duties, as well as the importance of academic success students at local middle and high schools in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  In 2006, Wilfredo wrote a published "Letter to the Editor" of the Connecticut Post.  He opposed an recent article written by The Connecticut Post regarding sharp decline in students arrests at Warren Harding High School based upon interventions by security personal and in favor of this sharp decline in arrests largely due to the success of The PARK Project meeting it's mission. 

Furthermore, Wilfredo has informally worked with the Bridgeport Board of Education in the State of CT on child welfare issues, and facilitated community forums and venues while in high school.  Wilfredo’s efforts would eventually have him awarded “The Secretary of Connecticut’s Citizenship Award” in 2007 at age seventeen. Wilfredo left PARK in 2007 to begin his degree work at the University of Connecticut.
